About Us

Our three-story facility is handicapped accessible and provides 56 private one-bedroom apartments for individuals who are 62 and older, or disabled, and who can maintain independent living. Eligible persons will receive Section 8 rent subsidy, based upon income, from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development through a HUD 202 program.  Potential residents will fill out an application, agree to a background check, and with the help of office staff, will certify and verify all sources of income and medical expenses.  Rent is based on a person’s adjusted income.

We are located in historical College View in south central Lincoln.  We have a smoke-free environment, inside the building and outside on the property.  Our convenient location is close to shopping centers, grocery stores, medical facilities, Gere Library, Union College (musical and cultural events, swimming pool, etc.) and is near a city bus route.

Apartments are equipped with individual heating and cooling controls.  Utilities are furnished.  An electric stove, refrigerator, and draperies for both the living room and bedroom are furnished as well. The kitchen and bathroom have linoleum flooring, and the balance of the apartment has neutral-colored carpet.  The approximate measurements for the rooms are:

  • Living Room: 10′ x 15′
  • Bedroom: 9′ x 13′  including 6′ closet
  • Kitchen: 8′ x 7′
  • Bathroom: 6′ x 8′
  • Walk-in storage closet: 6′ x 4′

A comfortable, spacious Community Room on 2nd Floor provides a gathering place for regular social events, informative programs, musical performances, and a place to just watch TV, play the piano, borrow a book, or play games and visit with friends.  Additional attractive sitting areas on 1st and 3rd Floors and two outdoor patios allow opportunities for visiting and lounging.


Each apartment opens into an enclosed hallway that leads to a central entrance. The complex uses the Entraguard system to allow visitors to enter the locked building after daylight hours.

Union Housing, Inc. is a Nebraska based non-profit corporation.  It owns and operates Union Manor Apartments, an apartment housing facility consisting of 56 units in Lincoln, Nebraska.  The purpose of this housing is to provide housing for extremely low and very low income elderly and disabled individuals and families through the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Section 202 Direct Loan and New Construction  Section 8 programs.
